Each year, in partnership with many of Southern Oregon’s vision and hearing healthcare providers, the Center provides hundreds of low income individuals and families with vision and hearing exams, glasses and hearing aids. With the help of Lion club members, each October the Center’s staff provides sight and hearing screenings for thousands of grade school children in hopes of preventing the subtle but destructive consequences of childhood sight and hearing related problems. The Center provides office space for the Oregon Commission for the Blind from which eight Oregon counties are served. It also houses a lab for the Lions Eye Bank of Oregon from which eye tissue is collected and processed for eye surgeries. The Center serves as a meeting facility for the Deaf Services of Southern Oregon, Vision Northwest, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and Southern Oregon Lion Clubs.
